In this nine-week course, you’ll experience a mix of everything: craft talks, generative prompts, and lots of dedicated workshop time for both initial drafts and revised drafts. We’ll use the flash form to hone in on three of writing’s most sacred rules and then smash them to pieces. This course will focus on rules about: punctuation, showing versus telling, and adverbs & adjectives. We’ll operate within the delightfully annoying credo: learn the rules so that you can break them. You’ll have the opportunity to take an in-depth look at each rule, review example stories, and then practice breaking that rule in your own drafts. You’ll also have space and time to revise each draft and workshop that revision, fine-tuning your revision skills while you let your rebel side take the wheel.
